EV AC — frequently asked
Why is my EV AC not cooling well in summer?
Usually low refrigerant (a leak), a clogged or chipped condenser, a tired electric compressor, or restricted airflow from a dirty cabin filter. The cheap and expensive causes feel identical from the seat, so we diagnose pressures and airflow before touching any part.
Can you repair the EV's electric AC compressor?
Yes. It runs on hundreds of volts, so it must be handled on the HV system by trained technicians. We diagnose whether it's a control, refrigerant or genuine compressor fault and repair or replace as needed.
Does the AC really reduce my range?
In peak Indian heat, continuous AC can cost roughly 5–10% of real-world range, more when the cabin is heat-soaked. A severe, sudden drop can signal an inefficient system, so we measure the actual climate load to separate normal physics from a fault.
Which refrigerant does my EV use?
Newer EVs use R1234yf; some older ones use R134a. They must never be mixed. We confirm the correct type, use the right EV compressor oil, and always find the leak before re-gassing.
