None of that tells you the one thing that decides whether the car is a bargain or a trap: how much life is left in the battery you cannot see.
That gap between how a used EV looks and what it is actually worth is exactly where scams live. In 2025 and 2026 the Indian used-EV market exploded almost overnight. Battery health is the headline, but an EV is a complete vehicle and the rest matters too. Work through this checklist in daylight, with the car cold (not just driven in), and take photos of everything.
Battery and high-voltage system
- Get the SoH report as described above, and note the figure in writing.

- Match the chassis (VIN) and engine or motor number on the RC to the numbers stamped on the car. They must agree exactly.
- Check how many previous owners are listed. More owners in a short span can signal a problem car that people kept offloading.
- Verify there is no active loan or hypothecation on the RC. If a bank is still listed, you need a no-objection certificate and a hypothecation termination before the car is truly clear.
