Battery SoH cell-level test
Per-cell State-of-Health scan with printed report.
A battery pack's nameplate capacity is just a starting point. After 2-3 years of Indian summers, fast-charging, and stop-go traffic, individual cells drift apart — some weaken faster than others, and the pack's usable capacity is gated by its weakest cells. Our cell-level State-of-Health test connects directly to your BMS and reads each cell's voltage, internal resistance and balance drift. You walk away with a signed PDF report that breaks down exactly which cells are healthy, which are marginal, and what percent of nameplate capacity you have left. Owners use this report for warranty claims, resale negotiations, and to decide whether a pack rebuild makes financial sense.
What's included
- BMS readout for every cell in the pack
- Per-cell voltage + internal-resistance map
- Capacity estimation vs. nameplate kWh
- Drift / imbalance flagging
- Printed PDF report (signed)
- 30-min advice call with technician
Why this matters
Range loss isn't linear. A pack that's 85% on average might have three cells at 60% — those three cells set your real-world range. Without per-cell data, you're guessing. Skipping this test means either overpaying for a pack rebuild you don't need, or selling the car at a discount you can't justify.
How it works
- 1
We connect to the OBD/diagnostic port and pull the live BMS feed.
- 2
A controlled discharge sequence lets us measure each cell's true capacity under load.
- 3
We run an internal-resistance ping on every cell — high resistance is the earliest sign of cell ageing.
- 4
We compare against the OEM golden baseline for your specific pack chemistry.
- 5
Our engineer reviews the data, writes plain-English findings, and signs the PDF.
What to expect
Plan for 90 minutes at the workshop. You're welcome to wait — there's air-conditioned seating and wifi. We hand over a printed report at the end. If we spot a single weak cell, we'll quote a single-cell replacement separately. If multiple cells are degraded, we'll quote a pack rebuild — never both upsold together.
What we typically find
From hundreds of inspections — what makes the report.
- 1-2 cells drifting more than 5% from pack average (most common after year 3)
- Top-of-charge imbalance from a lazy BMS balancer
- One cell with high internal resistance — usually the cell closest to the heat source
- Real usable capacity 7-12% below nameplate at year 4
- Healthy pack overall — just needs a balancing tune
How to prepare
- Arrive with at least 60% State of Charge — we need headroom to discharge during the test
- Bring your service history book if you have one (helps interpret findings)
- Allow 90 minutes; don't book a tight pickup window
Equipment we use
- Multi-channel cell tap CAN bus interface
- Calibrated Hioki battery tester (per-cell internal-resistance)
- BMS-aware OBD-II reader
- FLIR thermal camera (correlate hot cells to weak cells)
Certifications
- EV-specialist technicians (FAME-II workshop-listed)
- ISO 9001-aligned reporting process
- Insurance-grade signed PDF accepted by most OEM warranty desks

What customers say
“Showed me exactly which two cells were dragging the pack down. Tata service centre accepted the report and replaced under warranty.”
“Was about to sell at a steep discount thinking the pack was dying. Turned out it was just imbalance. Saved me ₹80k.”
“Honest report — they told me a rebuild wasn't worth it on a 2018 car. Appreciated that they didn't try to upsell.”
FAQs
How long does it take?+
Roughly 90 minutes on the bench.
Will this void my warranty?+
No — we only read data via the OBD/diagnostic port. Nothing is flashed or modified.
Can it be done at home?+
Workshop only — the cell-level rig isn't portable.
What if you find a bad cell?+
We pause and quote a pack-rebuild separately. You decide.
Who needs this
Anyone with a 2+ year old EV, range complaints, or planning to sell — proof of pack health adds resale value.
What's NOT included (honestly)
- Cell replacement
- Pack disassembly
